Sui Dhaaga Box Office Collection Day 1: Mamta and Mauji bring ‘Badhiya’ numbers at BO, earn Rs 8.30 crore

Sui Dhaaga, starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma opened to mixed response from critics across the country on Friday. The film opened facing a clash with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha. However, the numbers for Sui Dhaaga turned out to be impressive. On its first day in theatres, Anushka and Varun’s film managed to earn Rs 8.30 crore, which is quite remarkable for the opening day, citing that the film is content-driven and non-commercial. Sharing the box office number, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “While #SuiDhaaga is expected to grow on Day 2 and Day 3, its biz is expected to jump from Day 4 [Mon] *evening* onwards, since Day 5 [Tue] is a big national holiday: Gandhi Jayanti... A strong total is on the cards, if its target audience [families] throng cineplexes.”
